As a 911 Operator, you will use a Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system to answer emergency and non-emergency calls, determine the nature and location of incidents, and dispatch appropriate police, fire, medical, or other emergency units. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of both the public and first responders.
Key Responsibilities
• Receive and screen incoming 911 and non-emergency calls from the public and partner agencies.
• Prioritize calls based on urgency and established procedures.
• Dispatch the appropriate police, fire, EMS, or other emergency personnel.
• Ask critical questions and provide pre-arrival instructions to callers.
• Communicate with officers and emergency responders regarding hazards, threats, and situational updates.
• Monitor and operate countywide radio systems for fire, EMS, law enforcement, and municipal agencies.
• Access, retrieve, and monitor data using GCIC/NCIC databases in compliance with all regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years of age.
• U.S. citizen (native-born, repatriated, or naturalized).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Georgia Telecommunications License.
• Willingness to obtain additional certifications as required.
• 911 Emergency Communications Operator
• Employment is contingent on passing a mandatory Medical Physical/Drug Screen/Credit Check/Polygraph Test/Background Investigation/Psychological Examination and MVR.
